Slow Down, Breathe Deep:

What to expect from Forest Bathing with Kokoro Grove

What to Expect from a Forest Bathing Experience

Shinrin Yoku, or forest bathing, is a gentle, evidence-based practice that helps you reconnect with nature—and yourself. Backed by science and rooted in ancient wisdom, it invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and become present in the natural world around you.

You might find yourself lying beneath a leafy canopy, creating a mandala from fallen leaves and twigs, or simply tuning in to the sounds of birdsong and breeze. These simple, nature-inspired invitations calm your mind, reduce stress, and support emotional and physical wellbeing.

The whole concept of Forest Bathing is to become quiet, to slow down, to disconnect from our screens and notice the nature surrounding us.

It is a slow and peaceful walk, allowing you the time and the permission to step away from the hectic world for a while and take a dose of nature, full of relaxation and rejuvenation.

Who Comes Along?

Many people come alone, and leave feeling more connected—to themselves, to nature, and to others.

Group sizes are small (usually 4–12 people), creating a friendly, safe space for quiet reflection and optional sharing.

While much of the session is experienced in peaceful solitude, there are gentle moments of connection and community, too.

A Slower Kind of Walk

Forest bathing isn’t about hiking or exercise. It’s about noticing.

Expect the session to last around three hours, but don’t worry—this isn’t a power walk or fitness challenge! This is to give you the optimal time to get the most out of your experience.

Much of the time is spent standing or sitting quietly, so it's wise to bring a few layers for warmth, especially in cooler seasons.

A small backpack with water, a snack, and a sit mat or small towel can also be helpful.

What You Won’t Need

You won’t need to know anything about nature. You won’t need your watch. And you definitely won’t need your phone (we kindly ask that you put it on airplane mode).

This time is for you—to unplug, unwind, and let your senses take the lead.

Rain or Shine (Within Reason)

Light rain can enhance your forest bathing experience—the scent of the earth, the sound of raindrops—it’s all part of nature’s therapy.

The peace and serene quiet of a frosty, winter woodland creates a powerful experience too, and one that is as equally enjoyable as the sun dappled woodland of the summer - as long as you are warm and comfortable.

Every season has its own unique beauty that Kokoro Grove would love to share with you.

However, if strong winds or heavy storms are forecast, we’ll reschedule to keep everyone safe and comfortable.
